Ghent 6 Day

Dec 18, 2008 – During this week I have been to Ghent in Belgium to watch the Ghent 6 day racing. The racing was excellent with Alex Zabel performing his last 6 day and his final race on the Sunday. The Zesdaagse van Vlaanderen Gent was won by Iljo Keisse and Robert Bartko in fearsome. Over the days they built up a huge lead and still made the final days racing exciting. Eric Zabel and his partner Leif Lampater came second with 348 points, Danny De Ketele and Andreas Beikirch came third with 271 points and Bruno Risi and Alexander Aeschbach came a close fourth with 242 points. The weather outside was thick with up to 6 inches of snow and ice which made the drive home interesting! Accompanying Dan was Alan Denman, manager of the Ingear Development Squad and 18 other riders and parents from the team including Matt Green from the Continental racing team Cycling news/ Jako/DFL.
